 In the case of weight training, it's the off day which allows those muscle groups to heal, restore chemical balance, and prepare them for the next session. In the case of an emotional or mental stress "event", adequate sleep is critical to recovery. After an endurance event, fluid, carbohydrate replacement or even icing (although we suggest ice packs over the "plunge") could aide you in recovery. There are many ways to help your body recover.  The most important thing to remember is that you can't thrive without it!
